Namaskar,
American Organization for the Development of Bihar (AODB) was started in 1986 by Bihari people settled in the San Francisco Bay Area. The primary goal is to improve the quality of life in the rural areas of the state of Bihar. These objectives are pursued by helping in childrens education, vocational training for adults, promoting preventive health care, and installation of deep well hand pumps for clean drinking water. The projects are supported and completed by our members with local help. AODB has worked with organizations such as the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Jagjiwan Sanatorium and Hospital, Patna Medical College, Nalanda Medical College, Ardserhir Memorial Hospital, National DAV Educational Management, Bhagalpur Medical College and Tata Steel Rural Development Society.
AODB has also responded to the natural calamities in other parts of India and has provided financial help to the victims of the cyclone in Orissa, earthquakes in Maharashtra and Bihar. With active participation in the Indo-American community celebrations AODB has provided award winning Bihar Floats in the FIA parades. To keep our rich culture and heritage, AODB celebrates many festivals like Holi and Diwali.
The number of AODB members and its supporters has grown over the time and we hope to increase it further. Our focus is the young generation who were yesterdays participants in our functions as young children are now outstanding members of the community at large as doctors, engineers and other professionals. We welcome participation in following projects:
I thank the members of AODB who have contributed generously with their support, time, money and expertise. In spite of our achievements, the needs are enormous. I sincerely urge you to get involved and work on a project of your choice, which will help people in need.
God bless America and AODB. Thanks. Jai Hind.
