The American Organization for the Development of Bihar (AODB) was founded in 1992 in the Bay Area, California, USA. The mission of American AODB, a nonprofit organization, is to provide assistance in the area of health, sanitation, and education which will lead to positive changes in the overall quality of life in Bihar and Jharkhand.
The above objectives are achieved via providing funds for projects in primary education, vocational training, preventive health care, etc. AODB has a played key role in helping rural area of Bihar during several natural calamities such as floods and droughts. For example, during 2009 flood in Bihar, AODB members with collaboration of other organizations raised fund and supported thousands of people in flood affected areas. Since its establishment, AODB has organized several eye camps in many villages of Bihar. AODB has alliance with several local organizations of Bihar to meet its objective such as Lions Club, Rotary Club, Jagjiwan Sanatorium and Hospital, Patna Medical College, Nalanda Medical College, Ardserhir Memorial Hospital, National DAV Educational Management, Bhagalpur Medical College, Tata Steel Rural Development Society, etc.
Besides providing help in Bihar, AODB has also provided help to numerous natural calamities in other parts of India, for example, cyclone in Orissa, earthquakes in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
To keep our rich culture and heritage alive in USA, AODB does grand celebration of Holi and Diwali annually with collaboration of other Bay Area organizations i.e. Bihar Samaj, UPMA, Bay of Bihari etc. AODB also hosts annual fun-full summer picnic and actively participate in other Indo-American activities.
In order to accomplish the mission, we drive fund raise during Diwali function and continue to raise fund year around. At present, APDB has two hundred fifty plus active members and hundred plus auxiliary members.
