This school was founded in 1993 in Dariapur village in Munger district, which is an underdeveloped area of Bihar. While industry is non-existent, the agriculture based economy is poor and availability of quality education and proper healthcare is generally lacking.
In order to provide formal education Dr. G. N. Das started a primary school in 1983. It was subsequently upgraded to a high school in 1993. This is the only High School in the entire panchayat, consisting of ten villages. At present over 600 students are enrolled including more than 200 girls. Also this is the only High School in other two neighboring panchayat "which consist of ten villages each". In addition to school activities, several health checkup camps, vocational training camps, fairs and cultural programs are conducted at this site. The school is seeking to improve the literacy among the women of the whole panchayat. The total literacy rate in the panchayat is below 30% and the women literacy rate is less than 20%.
