Dear AODB members and sympathisers:

As directed by the AODB General Body, we will finalize the constitution revisit report and submit it to the President by May 31, 2009.

AODB was established in 1992. The previous sixteen years have been years of accomplishments. We have constructed Chapa Kals (tube wells), conducted hundreds of cataract surgeries through dozens of eye camps, provided funds to train preserve ancient handicraft and arts, donated three-wheelers to a school for handicapped children, provided medical equipment, provided money for school building, built rural toilet facilities, donated clothes to flood victims, constructed village health centers, provided preventive immunizations to hundreds of children and most recently provided funds for flood relief. The list goes on and on.

During meetings and informal conversations, it has been suggested that we consider looking into structuring our mission that has a narrow focus, a far reaching objective, global in character, expanded donor horizon, well defined goals where our successes can be measured and improved upon. The focus can be on any one developmental initiative for clarity such as education or health care or any other that can be developed after a vigorous debate.

One of our members has suggested that we concentrate on education with a long term objective of enhancing children's intellectual capacity through the use of new tools during their formative years. Simply translated, the mission is to provide learning through the use of computers to the students of  primary and secondary schools. Installation, repairs and  maintenance of computers and its accessories can be easily contracted out . Power/Internet services can be provided by the local institutions. The challenge for the new  AODB will be to develop a robust global organization, source and provide most resources, develop and monitor processes and procedures, and implement the fundamentals of continuous growth and improvement.

The suggestion is to expand AODB globally for fund raising and project identification. Once a project is identified then it will have to be approved HQ AODB and then the contractor will be authorized to complete the work. So it is being kept simple-- very simple.

Please respond to me if you would prefer (1) new proposed mission that will have one long term objective with narrow focus, or (2) operate the way we are currently structured. Please understand that there is no right or wrong answer.

Please note that the foregoing survey has nothing to do with the Constitution Revisit of AODB. They are completely two different and unrelated issues.
